What's crafted from goat's milk, wrapped in cheesecloth, tied with twine, carefully aged and ... lathers? Elmore Mountain Farm's Goat's Milk Soap, of course! When spring is in the air, in weather snowy or green, happy goats can be seen in the fields of Bunny and Peter Merrill's Lamoille County, Vermont farm.
In the midst of the Green Mountains, Elmore Mountain Farm is home to a quality-committed natural body care family business that values its wonderful Vermont farm location. Central to their company is "the fact that everything we do takes place on our farm - raising and milking our goats, manufacturing, marketing and shipping our products and being able to provide employment for our great staff. People feel a connection to our product when they can easily envision how and where it's made ... Most importantly, we want to keep the business small enough that we can continue to handle all production here on our farm. We love caring for our goats and being able to deliver a high-quality, 'farm-crafted' product."
Bunny and Peter Merrill are especially well-suited in the Elmore Mountain Farm partnership: "Bunny and I met at Middlebury College almost 40 years ago and have been married for 25 years. We work well together and have very complementary skills. We each completely respect what the other brings to the table ... Bunny focuses on caring for the goats, developing recipes and overseeing production. Peter oversees the marketing, sales and accounting and also draws the goats featured on our labels."
The owners support their local community and beyond by sponsorship of charity events, charitable giving, incorporating recycled, repurposed, natural and organic choices into their products and by bringing the beauty, quality and handcrafted traditions of Vermont to a wider audience.
