way back when....
Lantman's Market is a family owned store that has provided the finest quality products and unparalleled service to its customers for over 85 years. The store is owned and operated by Brian Busier, who has worked in the retail business for 45 years. Brian started his career at age 14 as a store clerk for the Lantman family in 1969.
Lantman's History: The building, originally constructed in the 1800's, was the Hinesburg Hotel and Carriage House. In 1922 William Lantman and his sons Harry and Lynn purchased the property. This began W.E.Lantman and Sons IGA, an independent general store. W.E. Lantman and Sons provided their customers with products ranging from grocery items like sugar, flour and coffee to hardware, appliances and even property insurance. In the mid 1930's William sold the store to his sons Harry and Lynn who ran the business until the mid 1950's. Harry then sold his portion of the business to his son Howard, and Lynn sold his share to his son Douglas. In 1978, Douglas bought out Howard and became the sole owner until his retirement in 1988. Brian and Kathy Busier have owned and operated the store ever since. Present Day: Long since are the days of a general store selling appliances and insurance. However, Lantman's Market has retained the fundamental premise of a hometown grocery store. Lantman's continues to positively influence the local community by providing employment to over 80 individuals. We also support local business and find it rewarding to aid community organizations and local events. Inside the store you will find our aisles filled with a wide variety of wonderful products. Come in and enjoy the aroma of our in-store bakery or feast your eyes on the colorful assortment of the freshest fruits and vegetables. Ask one of our butchers to cut the perfect steak to your specifications or create your own specialty sandwich at our deli. We look forward to seeing you in the store soon! |
